Terms of Service

Last updated: March 23, 2026

Welcome to Anchor. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Anchor mobile application, website, and all related services (collectively, the “Service”), operated by Anchor (“we,” “our,” or “us”).

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Anchor.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Anchor. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that you have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

2. Your Account

To access certain features — such as the community forums, data syncing, and personalized settings — you must create an account. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your account credentials
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Providing accurate and current information

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Description of Service

Anchor is a free journaling and community tool designed to help dog owners manage canine epilepsy. The Service allows you to:

  • Log seizure events with environmental and behavioral context
  • Track medications, dosing schedules, and blood work
  • Manage dog profiles with health information
  • Generate exportable reports for veterinary visits
  • Participate in a peer-support community

4. Medical Disclaimer

Anchor is not a medical device and does not provide veterinary advice, diagnoses, or treatment recommendations.

All health data, correlations, trigger analysis, and environmental context presented by the Service are for informational and journaling purposes only. They should not be used as a substitute for professional veterinary care.

Always consult a licensed veterinarian before making decisions about your dog's health, medications, or treatment plan. Anchor assumes no liability for health decisions made based on information provided through the Service.

5. Community Guidelines

The Anchor community is a supportive space for dog owners navigating epilepsy. By participating, you agree to:

  • Be kind and supportive — Treat every member with compassion. Harassment, bullying, and hate speech are prohibited.
  • Protect privacy — Do not share other users' personal information. Respect anonymous posting.
  • Stay on topic — Keep discussions focused on canine epilepsy support. Do not promote outside services, products, or unrelated content.
  • No medical advice — Share your experiences, not prescriptions. Always encourage consulting a veterinarian.
  • Report, don't retaliate — Use the flag feature to report inappropriate content.

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend accounts that violate these guidelines, at our sole discretion.

6. User Content

You retain ownership of all content you create through Anchor, including posts, comments, seizure logs, and pet profiles. By posting content to the community, you grant Anchor a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display that content within the Service. This license terminates when you delete the content or your account.

You are solely responsible for the content you submit. You agree not to post content that is:

  • Illegal, harmful, or threatening
  • Defamatory, abusive, or harassing
  • Spam, advertising, or solicitation
  • Misleading or intentionally inaccurate health information
  • Infringing on the intellectual property rights of others

7. Intellectual Property

The Anchor name, logo, design, and all original content, features, and functionality of the Service are owned by Anchor and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • Data synchronization between the app and cloud will always be immediate or complete
  • Environmental data (weather, barometric pressure, moon phase) will be accurate or available at all times
  • Any correlation between environmental data and seizure events implies causation

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Anchor shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages arising from:

  • Your use of or inability to use the Service
  • Decisions made based on data or information provided by the Service
  • Unauthorized access to your data
  • Actions or content of other users in the community

Our total cumulative liability to you shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $50 USD, whichever is greater.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Anchor and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we determine violates these Terms, is harmful to other users, or is otherwise objectionable.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including, without limitation, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification) will remain in effect.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms will be resolved in the courts of the applicable jurisdiction.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Anchor after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
